AECOM has announced the final arrangements for its merger-acquisition of URS. The URS stockholders were given a choice between taking cash or shares in AECOM. On October 23 it was announced that the holders of 35% of URS shares chose to receive AECOM stock, while holders of 47% of URS shares chose to receive cash. They received $54 per share. The rest of the shareholders did not make an election.

AECOM’s acquisition of URS became effective on October 17 and has created a combined company of 100,000 employees in 150 countries around the world. Staff include architects, engineers, planners, scientists and construction service professionals. The combined companies made a total of $19.2 billion in revenues during the 12 months ending June 30, 2014.

Meanwhile, WSP Global’s acquisition of Parsons Brinckerhoff Group has been approved by Balfour Beatty shareholders. Parsons Brinckerhoff is the professional services division of Balfour Beatty. WSP of the U.K. merged with Genivar in 2012 and is based in Montreal. It has 17,500 employees based in more than 30 countries.

The acquisition of Parsons Brinckerhoff, an international company of around 14,000 people, was announced on September 3, 2014.
