HCG Engineering of Mississauga, Ont., a specialized consulting engineering firm that exclusively addresses noise, vibration and acoustics, has opened its new Western Canadian branch headquarters (HQ) in Calgary.

“We have been doing acoustical consulting work in Western Canada since our founding 25 years ago,” explains Brian Howe, HGC’s president, “but with a growing customer base in the region, we felt it necessary to offer a full-time, local presence.”

Ian Bonsma (pictured taking environmental noise level readings at an industrial facility in Calgary), a senior associate acoustical engineer who has been with the firm since 2004, recently relocated to manage the new office. He is already experienced working with the region’s local bylaws in relation to federal regulations.

As Howe mentioned, HCG has contributed to projects across Western Canada in the past, including the Golden Ears Bridge in Vancouver, the Centennial Centre for Interdisciplinary Sciences in Edmonton, MacDonald Island Park in Fort McMurray, Alta., and Eau Claire Tower and Versus Condominiums in Calgary.
