Hatch donates $250K to Laurentian University’s engineering school

Hatch has made a $250,000 commitment to Laurentian University in Sudbury, providing a scholarship fund for undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at the University’s Bharti School of Engineering.

This year, Hatch is celebrating its 30^th anniversary in Sudbury, and this donation is part of firm’s ongoing commitment to the development of tomorrow’s leaders, awarding more than $2 million in scholarships annually, and welcoming more than 785 participants to its global student and new graduate program.

“We are so thankful that Hatch has taken this approach to student support, giving our engineering students an excellent opportunity to hone their leadership capabilities and focus in on their career interests,” said Markus Timusk, Director of the Bharti School of Engineering at Laurentian University.

“At Hatch, we strive for real partnerships with our clients and with the communities in which we work. We’re excited to be able to give back to the Sudbury community who have been supportive of us for the past 30 years,” said Bruce MacKay, Hatch Regional Managing Director, Western North America, in a company release.

The Sudbury office is home to more than 150 experts engaged on modernization programs based not only in Sudbury but across the world. Since opening the Sudbury office Hatch has worked on some of the region’s largest projects, including Nickel Rim South, Onaping Depth, and the Process Gas Project for Glencore and the Copper Cliff Mine, several SO2 abatement projects, and furnace upgrades and rebuilds for Vale, among many others.
