Golder makes two acquisitions

The Canada-based, global consulting engineering firm Golder has acquired NovaTec Consultants of Vancouver.

NovaTec was founded in 1984 and is a process engineering firm specializing in industrial and municipal projects, including advanced water and wastewater treatment plant design and operations.

NovaTec will operate within the mining division of Golder Associates’ Greater Vancouver office in Burnaby.

Troy Vassos, President of NovaTec, described the merger as a benefit to employees and clients, saying “NovaTec enhances Golder’s existing water treatment process design capabilities. Integrating the two organisations’ services creates new opportunities for our people, and enables us to better assist clients as we work together to develop sustainable water reclamation and reuse solutions.”

Ateesh Roop, national leader of mergers and acquisitions for Golder in Canada, said:

“NovaTec’s reputation and experience really further our water and wastewater treatment service offering in Canada and provide all of us with broadened horizons—opportunities to become involved in new business streams and to explore new technical applications. There is a lot of enthusiasm, on both sides, around this deal.”

Also Golder Associates in the U.S. acquired a geo-environmental company, InterGEO Services, in January. InterGEO is a 12-year old firm based in the Philadelphia area that operates as a design/build, general contractor, as well as serving the same primary industries as Golder such as waste management, manufacturing, power, oil & gas, transportation, and mining.
