Dessau expands further into Latin America

Dessau of Montreal, one of Canada’s largest engineering-construction firms, has acquired SyZ Consultores Asociados S.A. of Peru. SyZ is an engineering firm specializing in energy.

Dessau of Montreal, one of Canada’s largest engineering-construction firms, has acquired SyZ Consultores Asociados S.A. of Peru. SyZ is an engineering firm specializing in energy.

The acquisition continues Dessau’s expansion in Latin America, where it now has more than 1,000 employees. It is also the second-largest consulting engineering firm in Peru. SyZ Consultores was founded in 1978 and specializes in designing hydroelectric and thermal generating stations and power transmission and distribution lines. It has 200 employees.

Jean-Pierre Sauriol, President and CEO of Dessau and SyZ Consultores Asociados S.A. founders Juan Solidoro Cuellar and Miguel Suazo Giovannini made the announcement of the acquisition. The announcement said, “Dessau supports economic growth in the countries where it does business by investing in qualified local human resources and meeting those countries’ infrastructure needs.”

Dessau made its first foray into Latin America in 1995 when it entered the energy sector in Peru. Over the past year it has also acquired CEI in Colombia and MG Ingenieros S.A. in Chile.

Dessau is the sixth-largest engineering-construction firm in Canada, employs 5,000 people in total, and has permanent offices in Algeria, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Peru and Trinidad and Tobago.
