Barenco Inc., a firm of environmental engineering and sciences services based in Gormley, Ontario, has joined Trow Global, a firm of 3,000 staff which has its headquarters in Brampton, Ontario and 100 offices in Canada, the U.S. and international locations. Barenco was founded in 1987 and has a team of 40 staff. Some of its client sectors are petroleum, chemicals, metal product manufacturing, transportation and land management. Barenco will continue to operate under its own name as a Trow Global company.
Trow Global has also recently appointed Robert B. Sheh as Chairman of the Board. Sheh has served as a president of Parsons, and as a president of CH2M Hill International. He is the founder and current managing partner of Alta Group LLC, a global advisory firm.
Cory Broks, P.Eng. is taking over as president of Al-Terra Engineering Ltd. in Edmonton. Current president, Leo J. Broks, P.Eng., who founded the firm 33 years ago, will remain as chair of the board. Sheldon Hudson, P.Eng. is vice-president.
Stewart Weir, a consulting engineering firm with six offices in B.C. and Alberta, has acquired Land Data Technologies. The latter is a 30-year old firm in Edmonton that specializes in services such as digital mapping and GIS. LDT has become a wholly owned subsidiary of Stewart Weir.
IBI Income Fund, a publicly traded consulting company based in Toronto that specializes in land, transportation and other sectors has acquired MAAK Technologies Group. MAAK provides engineering and automation systems in mechanical, civil and electrical, SCADA systems as well as process and instrumentation. The 12-year old company is based in Richmond Hill, Ontario and has an office in Trinidad. Alnoor Allidina, managing principal of MAAK said she and her two partners have signed agreements to continue on with IBI Group.
SNC-Lavalin of Montreal has joined with a Russian Bank and formed VEB Engineering LLC. The Russian engineering company will be jointly owned by SNC-Lavalin and the State Corporation Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs, or “Vnesheconombank.” VEB Engineering will help the bank do technical and budget audits on infrastructure and industrial projects where the bank is providing financing.
