Company News Round-Up: DIALOG, Ledcor, Integral, CH2M, Urban Systems, Pinchin, DNE, JMP

DIALOG has been selected by the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) to design its new office space in Vancouver. The council is relocating to premises in a newly constructed office building at 1021 West Hastings Street. It intends to pursue a LEED v4 for Commercial Interiors Gold certification, with Platinum “as a stretch target.” Ledcor has been selected as the contractor and Integral Group is the mechanical and electrical engineer. As a non-profit organization, the council is also asking the green building community for support, such as with materials, finishes, furniture, or in-kind contributions.

CH2M HILL has streamlined its name to “CH2M” and adopted a new logo. The origin of the name CH2M was three engineers and their professor, named “Cornell, Howland, Hayes and Merryfield,” who started the company 70 years ago in Oregon. The global company, now based in Denver has grown from 5,000 to 25,000 employees since the 1990s and now works in 50 countries, with 14 offices in Canada.

The 2015 list of 50 Best Workplaces in Canada for medium sized firms of 50-999 employees was released in early april. Urban Systems, a consulting engineering firm based in western Canada, was included, as was DNE Resources of Montreal; Pinchin Environmental of Ontario and Manitoba; and JMP Engineering based in London, Ontario. The Great Place to Work list is published by the Great Place to Work Institute Canada in partnership with the the Globe and Mail. The list recognizes companies that are “outperforming their peers, both financially and in terms of innovation, collaboration and productivity.”
