AECOM has been awarded a US $20 million contract to provide program management services for Edmonton’s Light Rail Transit Extension. The U.S. $708 million branch extension will go from downtown Edmonton to the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and will include approximately 2,300 feet of tunnel. AECOM is setting up a special project office, with Art Washuta in charge.

Les Laboratoires Shermont Inc., a Trow Global Company, has renewed its contract with the Japanese COJAAL consortium to do quality control for the eastern portion of the Trans-Algerian Highway. The Trow contract is valued at $23 million and will span two years. This is the largest contract ever obtained by the firm. Eric Charron, president of Les Laboratoires Shermont is the project manager. The company has been performing quality management and soils and materials engineering on the project since 2008. The section of highway is between Bordj Bou Arreridj and the Tunisian border, representing 400 kilometres of roadway and engineering structures.

Three consortia have been shortlisted to design, build, finance and maintain a new mental health care project in London and St. Thomas, Ontario. The two facilities will be owned and operated by St. Joseph’s Health Care in London, Ontario. The shortlisted consortia are: (a) A1 Health Group which includes MMM Group, Kasian Architecture, and Black & McDonald; (b)  Integrated Team Solutions, which includes EllisDon, Honeywell, Parkin Architects, The Mitchell Partnership, Walter Fedy Partnership; and (c) Lend Lease Health Solutions – St. Joseph’s, which includes Stantec Consulting, Johnson Controls, Bondfield Construction and McKay-Cocker.
