Engineering News Record published its Top Global Design Firms and Top 100 International Design Firm lists last month.
Canada-based consulting engineering firms figured prominently in the Top Global Design Firm list, which is based on the revenue from design, regardless of where the project is located. SNC-Lavalin of Montreal ranked No. 9, rising one spot from last year. Stantec of Edmonton ranked 24. Hatch Group of Mississauga, Ontario ranked 26. Golder of Mississauga was 41, Dessau of Laval, Quebec was 58, and Trow Global of Brampton, Ont. was 76.
U.S.-based companies that have a strong presence in Canada were high in the ranks. AECOM was No. 1, switching place with URS, which was No. 2 this year. CH2M Hill was 5. AMEC of London, U.K. was 7. Ten companies from China were included in the top 100 list this year.
In the Top International Design Firm List, which takes account only of design revenues from export projects, SNC-Lavalin ranked 8. Hatch Group ranked 19, Golder ranked 30, and Stantec ranked 31.
Among the non-Canadian companies on this list, AECOM was 3, AMEC was 5, CH2M HILL was 16, and Halcrow was 35.
