Tetra Tech has announced its intention to buy Fransen Engineering of Richmond, B.C. It expects to complete the transaction in the second quarter of 2011.

Fransen Engineering provides consulting services to industrial clients. It has special expertise in water treatment and tailings management for oil sands producers. It employs about 180 people.

Tetra Tech now has about 3,300 employees in Canada.
