To mark the end of the century the Construct Canada trade show and conference in Toronto announced a list of “outstanding building construction achievements.” Nominations were invited by ballot, then an advisory group that included Karl Reichert, P.Eng. of the UMA Group made the final selection.

The list of honours included:

Individuals: the late Robert F. Legget (a regular contributor to Canadian Consulting Engineer among many other distinctions)

Infrastructure: Confederation Bridge, Hibernia, James Bay Power Generating Station, St. Lawrence Seaway, Toronto and Montreal Subways, Trans-Canada Highway, Trans Canada Pipeline

Buildings: CN Tower, Expo ’67, Place Ville Marie, Railway hotels across Canada, St. John’s downtown revitalization, Toronto City Hall, Toronto Dominion Centre.
