ASHRAE announces 2019-20 Society Scholarship Recipients

Two Canadians were named among the 33 scholarship recipients—congratulations to Issac Golumbia, University of Victoria, and Matthew Woods, Carleton University.

Two Canadians were named among the 33 recipients of ASHRAE Society scholarships for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Issac Golumbia, mechanical engineering , University of Victoria was one of three students to receive a Reuben Trane Scholarship this year—a $10,000 award distributed over two years. This award was established by the Trane Co. in memory of the company’s founder.

The other Canadian scholarship award was presented to Matthew Woods, sustainable and renewable energy engineering, Carleton University, who received the ASHRAE Ottawa Valley Chapter Scholarship, a one-year $3,000 award.

In total, ASHRAE Society Scholarships this year totalled $166,000. Over the course of 30 years ASHRAE has awarded over $2.25 million to over 460 students around the world.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2020-2021 undergraduate engineering, technology, regional/chapter, and university-specific scholarships. The application deadline is December 1, 2019
