Entuitive, the Canadian-based consulting engineering firm with locations in Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge and London & Edinburgh in the UK, is celebrating the growth of its leadership team at the Principal, Senior Associate and Associate levels with 15 personnel announcements.

At the Principal level:

Brian Shedden

Brian Shedden—with a career spanning over 30 years in the building construction and restoration industry, Shedden leads the existing buildings group and provides enclosure consultation and design for occupied buildings, condominiums, hospitals and long-term care facilities, schools and universities, high-rise commercial and residential buildings, and cultural projects including the National Gallery of Canada.

Mike Hillcoat, P.Eng.

Mike Hillcoat, P.Eng.—with over 20 years of industry experience, Hillcoat leads the building restoration team in Toronto and is co-leader of the transportation team. He is the management representative on the joint health & safety committee, a member of the project management committee, and a founding member of the Toronto chapter of the International Concrete Repair Institute. Hillcoat has experience in the rehabilitation of existing structures including the restoration of major transit facilities including GO Transit’s Union Station, TTC’s Bloor-Yonge station, various parking structures, and underground concrete structures.

Randy Thesen, M.Eng., P.Eng.— leads both the building restoration and special projects and renovations teams in Western Canada. Thesen has been involved in thousands of building improvement projects with experience in a wide variety of building types, including institutional, academic, healthcare, retail, commercial and residential structures.

Toby Maclean, MA CEng MIStructE is the Managing Director of the UK offices in London and Edinburgh. Maclean brings over 25 years of experience through diverse projects ranging from the UK’s tallest sculpture, to high-end private residences, to acclaimed cultural institutions. He founded TALL Engineers, an award winning engineering consultancy recognized for its achievements by the 2008 Lubetkin prize, numerous RIBA awards, and recognition at the prestigious Institution of Structural Engineers awards; the firm joined Entuitive in 2016.

Chongsong Yu, P.Eng.

Chongsong Yu, P.Eng.—with over 20 years of experience across many industry sectors, Yu manages projects on the transportation team. His wide-ranging expertise includes work for airports, bridges and urban transit lines. Yu has also completed projects for other sectors including commercial, residential, retail and institutional. He seeks opportunities to integrate leading-edge technologies in his work – for Eglinton West (Allen) Station, for example, he led the team in the delivery of a 3d Bentley BIM model, the first ever prepared for the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC).

David Fox, B.Eng, P.Eng, LEED APbuilding on over 20 years of industry experience, Fox has completed projects that span the hospitality, residential, institutional, commercial, healthcare and transportation sectors. LEED AP certified, he is involved with the EcoSmart Concrete organization and has been involved in numerous LEED and sustainable design projects in Canada and abroad.

Ian Washbrook, P.Eng.with strong technical knowledge combined with a hands-on and pragmatic project management style Washbrook has developed a reputation for creative problem solving and a high level of service. With 15 years’ experience as a structural engineering consultant, his diverse portfolio includes three of Toronto’s preeminent cultural centres: the National Ballet School of Canada, the Royal Conservatory of Music, and the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.

Miles has 10 years of industry experience working in a broad spectrum of materials, codes and project types, both within the UK and abroad.

Nick Berci, P.Eng.—leader of Entuitive’s project management committee, Berci has 10 years of industry experience covering a variety of project types, with a specialty in institutional and commercial projects. Berci’s experience includes new construction as well as the renovation of existing properties.

Saleem Haq, P.Eng.—with over 20 years of industry experience, Haq possesses strong technical acumen with expertise in tall buildings, overbuild and retrofit/expansion projects.
