The project is among the long list of Alternative Financing and Procurement Projects being undertaken by Infrastructure Ontario. The Windsor Regional Hospital will be a design, build, finance and maintain project with a project value of around $2 billion. A request for qualifications (RFQ) is scheduled to be issued in 2021, but the date is subject to change.

According to a CTV News report from the area, the hospital will be located near the Windsor airport.
