A 33-year old woman sitting in a sushi restaurant on Peel Street in downtown Montreal was killed July 16 when a concrete slab fell from the facade of a building. Her husband was injured.

The slab fell off the Marriott Residence Inn and crashed through the glass roof of the sushi bar.

Peel Street between de Maisonneuve Boulevard and Sherbrooke Street was closed while the owner of the building, Wilmington Trust, inspected the rest of the building’s face, which included hundreds of decorative concrete panels.
