Engineering students at the University of Windsor have come up with a new smart phone “app” that helps people find their way through a building. The system uses hotspots as nodes to triangulate a location within about three metres and by superimposing a floorplan, the app can give directions to a specified room.

Parmvir Singh Nagpal, a fourth year electrical and computer engineering student developed the system with three other students, Mohammad Rahman, Brendan Rhyno and Qing Tang. They used the massive new Centre for Engineering Innovation on the University of Windsor campus as their testing ground.
