The international, U.K.-based company AMEC has acquired a 20-person geotechnical, mining and environmental engineering consulting firm based in Montreal. The acquired firm, Journeaux, Bedard & Associates (JBA), was founded in 1987 and provides serves in mine tailings management, dam design, permafrost foundations and laboratory testing and inspection. It will become part of AMEC’s Earth and Environmental Division. AMEC purchased JBA’s assets and ongoing operations for $3.7 million.
MTE Consultants of Waterloo, Ontario has merged with another southwestern Ontario firm: Waterloo Geoscience Consultants Ltd. MTE was founded in 1985 and has 150 employees. It specializes in civil, municipal, structural and environmental engineering. Greg Marks is its president. WGC, led by president Bill Clarke, was founded in 1988, specializes in hydrogeological investigations, and has six employees.
