Funding for 5 water projects approved for Estrie Region of Quebec

Four water pipe renewal projects and one waste water retention basin project receiving money from Clean Water and Waste Water Fund.

The governments of Canada and Quebec have together announced approved funding in the order of $5.3 million for four water pipe renewal projects and one waste water retention basin project, all in the Estrie region of the province, overlapping the Eastern Townships area.

Falling under the Clean Water and Waste Water Fund, the financial support has been granted to the municipalities of Asbestos (which will receive the water retention basin work beginning in mid-May and water pipe renewal began last September),  Nantes (water pipe work beginning in early June), Saint-Robert-Bellarmin (water pipe renewal beginning May 1) and Weedon (water pipe renewal scheduled to begin June 5).

The federal government is investing more than $3.2 million in these projects and the Government of Quebec is providing more than $2.1 million, the municipalities will provide the remainder required.
