People news: Golder, SNC-Lavalin, Halsall

Golder’s president and chief executive officer Brian Conlin, has announced he will transition out of his role as leader of the company’s global organization in early 2015. The transition is part of Golder’s established succession planning process. Conlin, who is based in B.C., has been president and CEO since 2009 and has a 34-year career with the company. He previously served nine years as president of the Canadian operation. Following the transition he intends to take on a senior role in business development.

Ian Smith, lead of Golder’s global Board of Directors, said; “The Board would like to thank Brian for his untiring service and achievements leading Golder Associates at the global level, during both buoyant and challenging times…. Brian has also been a champion and role model for our vision and values.”

SNC-Lavalin has named Marie-Claude Dumas as executive vice-president of hydro in the company’s power group. Based in Montreal, she reports to Alexander (Sandy) Taylor. Joining SNC-Lavalin in 2006, she worked in the global procurement group. In 2010 she became vice-president of operations for the hydro east division and was responsible for projects carried out worldwide, including in Matala in Angola, Smoky Falls in Ontario and Romaine 2 in Quebec. She has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in hydrogeological engineering from the École Polytechnique de Montréal, as well as a master’s of business administration from the École des Hautes Études Commerciales in Montreal.

Doug Webber, executive vice president at Halsall in Toronto, has won the 2014 Canadian Green Building Council (CaGBC) Leadership Award. The award was presented at the CaGBC Greater Toronto Chapter Gala on October 16. Webber is a professional engineer and LEED AP with over 20 years’ experience in green development. At Halsall, his team has been involved with projects such as Evergreen at the Brickworks, the PWC tower in downtown Toronto, and the University of British Columbia Student Union Building in Vancouver.
