Golder Associates announced on November 13 that it has undertaken a global evaluation of its business and “is taking a series of actions to create a stronger organization.”

The company said that by the time the “right-sizing” program is fully implemented it will have reduced its workforce by 500 people, or 6% globally. The statement read: “Building on 54 years of history, these changes will ensure there are balanced teams of strong performers who can deliver excellent work for clients and contribute to the communities in which Golder works. In addition, Golder’s actions this week will provide greater opportunity for its employees to focus on the core skills and expertise that clients and partners have come to expect from the organisation.

Brian Conlin, president and chief executive officer, said: “Taking action now means Golder enters 2015 in a strong position, sustaining our competitive edge.”

Golder is a Canada-based employee-owned organization with 180 offices and 8,000 employees worldwide specializing in design and construction services in earth, environment, and energy.
