Conestoga-Rovers disappears into GHD

The merger between Conestoga-Rovers & Associate (CRA) and GHD has been officially concluded.

The companies issued a press release last week announcing that all of CRA and its family of companies, including Inspec-Sol and eSolutions, have become shareholders of GHD. GHD is based in Australia.

The merged companies together have 8,500 people across the Americas, Asia, Australia, Europe and the Middle East. The combined business is to be known as GHD.

Conestoga-Rovers began in 1979 and built its reputation as an environmental consulting company after it played a leading role in the infamous Love Canal remediation in Niagara Falls, New York. CRA had grown to 3,000 staff and 100 offices before the merger, and had recently been owner’s representative for the high-profile Sydney Tar Ponds site clean-up in Nova Scotia.

A July 3 press announcement confirming the finalization of the merger said “the two companies will work together on a progressive integration program while focusing on continuity of service and maintaining a high level of responsiveness to clients.”

Ed Roberts, CRA’s president, said: “CRA’s goal has been to leverage our outstanding environmental, geotechnical and forensic engineering capabilities and broaden our business in the municipal infrastructure markets. With GHD we’re able to do this, while expanding our global footprint, particularly in Australia and Asia, to better serve our multinational clients.”
