Alberta has introduced Whistleblower Protection legislation and expects it to come into force on June 1 next year. The Public Interest Disclosure Act is designed to protect anyone who reports wrongdoing, including those who report "acts or omissions that create a danger to the public or environment; and gross mismanagement of public funds." The legislation will apply to the Alberta Public Service, provincial agencies, and academic and health institutions.
