The federal government together with Engineers Canada and the NRC’s Institute for Research in Construction is undertaking a research project to assess the state of the country’s core infrastructure.
The study will also assess the management of the infrastructure, which includes bridges, roads, public transit, potable water and wastewater systems.
According to the NRC/IRC’s newsletter Construction Innovation, the study is “expected to yield reliable quantitative information on the physical condition, performance, risk of failure, life-cycle costs, and remaining service life of core public infrastructure.”
The official title of the project is the Framework for the Assessment of State, Performance and Management of Canada’s Core Public Infrastructure.
