The Association of Consulting Engineers of Canada (ACEC) is pleased to announce its collaborative agreement with Miller Thomson LLP and De Grandpr Chait LLP. These two law firms will be providing legal advice to ACEC on contracts and other matters, with Miller Thomson taking the lead on common law issues and De Grandpr Chait advising with regard to Quebec’s Civil Code.

“These firms provide top-notch counsel and are valuable partners to our association,” said ACEC President Claude Paul Boivin. “We are thrilled to welcome them as advisors and thank them for their support of our industry.”

Miller Thomson, represented by Jane Sidnell, and De Grandpr Chait, represented by David Kauffman, will be collaborating on the review of standard form contracts to be published by the Canadian Construction Documents Committee. They will also provide articles and presentations to inform our members on how to interpret new contract documents. Miller Thomson has been working with ACEC since 2002 and participated in redrafting CCDC Document 14.

This collaborative agreement covers the relationship between the two law firms and ACEC, but members are welcome to contact these firms for their own business requirements.
