Webinar: Architectural Aerodynamics—The Art of Shaping Building Form in a Wind Tunnel

April 20, 2017

This presentation will give a brief overview of the wind related issues in the design of high rises and, through a series of project examples, discuss various shaping strategies and how simple and effective modifications to building form help in optimizing design.

Learning objectives:

  1. Gain an appreciation for the aerodynamic and meteorological variables involved in wind engineering.
  2. Gain an understanding of wind-induced phenomena that cause high wind loads and serviceability issues.
  3. Discuss various shaping strategies.
  4. Discuss specific building projects where Shape Optimization Strategies have been effective.

Presented by Jason Garber, M.E.SC., P.Eng., M.ASCE, Senior Wind Engineering Specialist
