| Main Body | This mould course is designed to provide comprehensive coverage for building managers, health and safety staff, abatement contractors, and insurance professionals to meet their responsibilities on this issue. The course will address factors for mould growth in buildings, health effects, regulations and guidelines, testing methods and interpretation, abatement techniques, and the prevention of future mould growth.
Mould contamination is now recognized as a potential cause of a range of adverse health effects in general use buildings such as offices, schools or homes. Authorities at all levels require assessment and remediation of potential mould growth and appropriate precautions to protect remediation workers and building occupants. The Ontario Ministry of Labour and public health agencies require building owners and employers to survey for mould if a concern is noted, and to remove the mould growth using appropriate methods. This issue presents a significant liability risk to building owners and operators, contractors and insurance professionals.
