The city of Trois-Rivieres on the St. Lawrence River in Quebec is to have a large new park development along the Saint Lawrence and Saint Maurice Rivers.
With $20 million in funds from the federal and provincial governments, the new park will cover an area of 340,000 square metres, and it will include construction of 3 kilometres of trails, floating docks along the Saint-Maurice River, and the reconstruction of a portion of the quay along the Saint Lawrence.
Also planned are a discovery centre about the pulp and paper industry to be located in a former pumping station, an artificial lake, a pergola, and picnic area.
The project was announced to celebrate the 375th anniversary of the birth of the city of Trois-Rivieres and should be completed by March 2010.
