It’s out. ENR Magazine has published its top 500 list for international design firms. AMEC is number one, but is listed as a United Kingdom company (it absorbed Canadian giant Agra last year).
Agra’s traditional rival in the size wars — SNC-Lavalin of Montreal — ends up being the top-rated Canadian firm, at No.7. Stantec of Edmonton, Canada’s only other publicly traded consulting engineering company is listed as No. 55. Golder Associates of Mississauga, Ontario is No. 28, and Hatch Group of Mississauga, Ontario is No. 30. Sandwell International of Vancouver is No. 71.
The rankings are made according to revenue for design services performed outside a firm’s home country in 2000 in millions of dollars. SNC-Lavaline had outside-Canada revenue of $493 million. Golder had outside-Canada revenue of $152 million.
The full list is published in ENR/July 23, 2001.
