SNC-Lavalin Group of Montreal has signed a contract to develop a mine in Saudi Arabia. The US $8.3 million contract was signed with the Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma’aden) to provide engineering, procurement and construction management services for the Al-Amar Mine which is located in Al-Quway’iyah southwest of Riyadh.
The mine will produce silver, zinc and copper in addition to gold metal and is expected to start producing in early 2006. The contract will be carried out by 25 employees in Montreal and from the company’s office in Al-Khobar.
