On Thursday this week, Canadian Consulting Engineer magazine and the Association of Canadian Engineering Companies (ACEC) are sponsoring a special session entitled “Building for Innovation” at Construct Canada in Toronto.
Attendees will hear about some of the most demanding building and infrastructure projects being done in Canada, representing the astonishing range and scale of work done by our engineers.
Four winners from the 2007 Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards will be making presentations. Their projects were selected from over 60 entries across the country in Canada’s annual engineering awards.
Presenters are John O’Keefe from Aercoustics Engineering in Toronto, Laurier Nichols of Dessau in Montreal, Richard Donnelly of Hatch Acres in Niagara Falls, and Mike Gundry of Totten Sims Hubicki in Whitby. Bronwen Parsons, editor of Canadian Consulting Engineer, will be moderating the session.
The “Building for Innovation” session is on Thursday, November 29 at 2.30-4.00 p.m. It is session #T108.

Construct Canada is the largest construction conference and trade show in Canada. It has over 400 seminars and 200 product demonstrations. Concurrent with Construct Canada is the National GreenBuilding Conference. It will focus on all aspects of green design, construction, retrofit, and maintenance leading to high performance buildings. Other concurrent events are PM Expo, HomeBuilder & Renovator Expo, DesignTrends, and Concrete Canada.
