Dockside Green, a 1.3-million square foot community in Victoria, B.C. has been awarded a Platinum LEED rating by the Canada Green Building Council. The community is located on a former brownfield site near Victoria’s waterfront.
Most LEED certifications to date have been for single buildings. This is the first master-planned development to win Platinum certification, which was awarded for Synergy, the first phase of the development. Synergy includes two condominium buildings, townhomes and commercial space.
Canadian Consulting Engineer magazine featured the project, including a study of its wastewater treatment plant, in the June-July issue of the magazine.
Stantec acted as LEED coordinator and mechanical and electrical engineer. Other consultants on the integrated design team that worked on the project include Busby Perkins & Will Architects, Worley Parsons Komex (civil), C.N. Ryzuk & Associates (geotechnical), SNC-Lavalin Morrow Environment (environmental) and Read Jones Christoffersen (Structural).
