Consulting Engineers of Ontario has issued its first call for applications for its Water Quality Research Scholarship. The scholarship was set up earlier this year using funds that were earned as part of the association’s role in response to the Walkerton tragedy.
The $250,000 scholarship fund will allow up to two university researchers to hire graduate students for a period of two years. The research has to recognize the need for practical solutions to help consulting engineers and municipalities who work in the area of drinking water.

Each scholarship is for $20,000 per year, for two consecutive academic years. The recipients may also receive up to $2,000 in expenses for presenting papers related to the research.
The eligible areas of research are in analysis, detection and treatment, source water protection and the economics and management of drinking water infrastructure.
