Consulting Engineers of Alberta announce award winners

With a “thoughtful and innovative engineering solution to the infrastructure needs of urban society,” CH2M Hill claimed awards in two categories of the Consulting Engineers of Alberta’s 2002 Showcase Awards, held in February. Using a state-of-the-art hydraulic model, the firm’s engineers investigated the causes of repeated sanitary sewer backups into basements. The directional drilling of the Forest Lawn Siphon project won two Awards of Excellence, one in the studies software category and another in water resources. CH2M Hill also garnered two Awards of Merit for its Qarn Alam steam project in Muscat, Oman.
SNC Lavalin Inc. also won several awards — an Award of Excellence in the environmental category and an Award of Merit in Project Management — for its part in developing a naptha stripper process for the oil industry.
Other winners included Associated Engineering Alberta Limited, Stantec Consulting Ltd., Techna-West engineering Ltd., UMA Engineering, AMEC Earth & Environmental Limited, Nordic Acres Engineering, AMEC Infrastructure & CWA Structural Engineers Ltd., A.D. Williams Engineering Inc., Golder Associates Ltd., Infrastructure Systems Limited, EBA Engineering Ltd., Hemisphere Engineering Inc., GPEC Consulting Ltd. and Stantec Consulting International Ltd.
