In June the American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) will launch a new certification program for building commissioning. The Commissioning Process Management Professional certification is intended for individuals who are given a commissioning role, but who do not have a background in building HVAC&R.

The program is the fourth in a suite of certifications offered by ASHRAE. The others focus on healthcare design, high performance building design, and operation and maintenance.

Individuals have to meet eligibility qualifications to take the exam.

“As the standard setter for sustainable building performance, ASHRAE’s certification program recognizes that people who manage the commissioning process need to have people and project management skills in addition to a level of understanding of building design, construction, operations and maintenance,” said ASHRAE president Bill Harrison.
