SNC-Lavalin joins program to repay Quebec government

SNC-Lavalin has announced it is participating in the Quebec government’s Voluntary Reimbursement Program. The Montreal engineering company said on May 10 that it has filed a notice of intention with the director of the program.

The Quebec government brought the voluntary reimbursement program into force on November 2, 2015 in order to recover amounts improperly paid in the last 20 years as a result of fraud or fraudulent tactics in connection with public contracts.

Individuals and companies have until November 1 this year to submit their notice of intention to take part in the program and agree on a settlement.

Neil Bruce, president and chief executive officer of SNC-Lavalin, said: “… SNC-Lavalin underscores its commitment to working with the Government of Quebec and the province’s public agencies to reach a settlement that is comprehensive, final and fair.  SNC-Lavalin firmly believes that common ground can be found to allow everyone to confidently move forward.”

The statement also pointed out that SNC-Lavalin has instituted a strong ethics and compliance program based on international best practices.

In December 2015, SNC-Lavalin signed an administrative agreement with Canada’s Public Services and Procurement department under its Integrity Regime. That agreement allows companies that have federal charges pending against them to continue to contract with or supply the Government of Canada.
