People News: Leadership changes at MMM, Stantec; CAE Fellows

MMM Group in Toronto has appointed Hugo Blasutta as Chief Executive Officer of the company. Blasutta joined MMM in 2010, becoming executive vice president in charge of corporate development. He has over 30 years of experience with engineering firms in Canada and internationally. He is a civil engineering graduate and post-graduate from the University of Toronto.

Robert Webb has been appointed as President of MMM. Webb joined the firm after graduating from the University of Toronto and has been with the firm ever since. He was most recently executive vice president of infrastructure and environment.

Bruce Bodden, P.Eng., was appointed as Chairman of the Board of MMM.

Timothy James Smith, M.Sc.Eng. has joined Stantec’s Ottawa office as a senior pavement engineer. He is responsible for growing Stantec’s pavement services in Eastern Ontario and the Atlantic provinces. Smith has more than 17 years of experience on concrete pavement and received the American Concrte Association’s Outstanding Health, Safety & Environmental Stewardship Award for his work in concrete pavement sustainability. He is an engineering graduate from the University of New Brunswick, and will chair the 10th International Conference on Concrete Pavements in Quebec City from July 8-12, 2012.

Among the 45 new Fellows inducted into the Canadian Academy of Engineering on June 2 were several from consulting engineering companies. They included Dennis E. Becker of Golder Associates, Giovanni Bianchini of Hatch, Anton Davies of Rowan Williams Davies and Irwin (RWDI), Henry N. Edamura of MMM Group, Catherine Karakatsanis of Morrison Hershfield, and Peter Halsall of Halsall Associates.
