Montreal-based CLEB acquired by UL

UL, a global leader in safety sciences in the building, fire, life safety and security market, has acquired Montreal-based CLEB to expand UL’s market share in the building envelope and building sciences area.

CLEB provides a range of building science services, including building envelope testing, building forensic services, and field testing and building system commissioning services for architects, building owners, manufacturers and others in the building construction markets across North America.

The acquisition strengthens UL’s position in the field of building science services and building envelope testing, and certification services, and offers manufacturing clients greater access to global markets.

CLEB’s laboratory facilities are among the largest in Canada and are accredited by the major North American accreditation organizations. Over the last 30 years, CLEB has contributed to many high-caliber projects throughout Eastern Canada and the Northeastern United States, as well as projects beyond North America.

CLEB’s employees will join UL’s industry professionals and recently inaugurated building envelope testing facility located in Northbrook, IL. The company now operates as CLEB, a UL Company. The group’s Building Science thought leadership and global Centers of Excellence will be based out of the Montreal and Northbrook headquarters.
