Two Canadian consulting engineering companies were in the top 10 in ZweigWhite’s 2014 Hot Firm List. WSP Global (formerly Genivar) of Montreal was No. 1, and Buckland & Taylor of North Vancouver was No. 10. The list ranks the fastest growing firms in the A/E/P (architecture, engineering, planning) and environmental consulting industry. Golder was ranked 40, Klohn Crippen Berger ranked 49, and MMM Group ranked 68. To see the full list, click here.

At Associated Engineering, Herb Kuehne has been appointed as vice president and general manager for Ontario. He will continue to hold his role as senior vice president for civil infrastructure. Don Kennedy has been appointed vice president of transportation structures, and Bryan Petzold is now vice president of transportation planning and traffic engineering. Barry Way, a senior technologist in the Medicine Hat office is an official “Hero of the Flood,” one of 1,300 individuals so designated by the Premier of Alberta after the floods of 2013.

At Halsall Associates in Toronto, Jenny McMinn has been appointed to the City of Toronto’s Design Review Panel as a sustainability advisor. She currently leads the company’s inter-disciplinary green building team for the Greater Toronto Area.

Hatch Mott MacDonald’s Squamish Pedestrian Overpass project in B.C. was awarded the Arthur C. Hayden medal at the International Bridge Conference in Pittsburgh. It also won an award of excellence in the 2013 Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards. Click here.

In Calgary, Zeidler Roberts Zeidler Partnership Architects’ office has merged with BKDI Architects. The new partnership is Zeidler BKDI Architects. The two companies have a 15-year history of collaboration.
