Tetra Tech has acquired American Environmental Group of Richfield, Ohio. The company, created in 2002, has 500 employees who specialize in environmental, construction and maintenance services to the solid and hazardous waste, environmental, utility, mining and other industrial clients.
Buckland & Taylor of Vancouver, a COWI Company, has promoted six staff to managerial positions. In the Halifax office Eileen McEwen is now Head of Section, Engineering Manager. In the North Vancouver Office, Adel Elgabry and Robert Gale have been promoted to be Head of Section, Chief Specialist. Christopher Scollard is now Head of Section, Chief Project Manager, and Dusan Radojevic and Dan Yang are now both a Chief Specialist.
Stantec conducted a study in Prince Alberta, Saskatchewan that concluded the city’s Diefenbaker Bridge is adequate and won’t reach capacity for up to 30 years. The study involved the public and industry in open houses and invited their submissions. The consultants considered whether a second bridge was necessary and had to address concerns about dangerous goods being carried over the Diefenbaker Bridge Route. Their conclusions confirmed the findings of a similar study from 2008.
Top executives from CH2M Hill participated in the inaugural International Water Summit that was hosted by Masdar and located with the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi on January 15-17. CH2M HILL Chairman and CEO Lee McIntire joined a panel of experts for the discussion “Water and Energy as a Catalyst to Regional Development and Sustainable Growth.” Other CH2M HILL executives who spoke at the conference included Vice President Linda Macpherson, Water Business Group Vice President Nancy Barnes, and India Managing Director Ajay Pradhan.
SNC-Lavalin has been awarded a contract to provide project management, detailed engineering, procurement and construction management services for the Eléonore gold project in northeastern Quebec, Canada. The mine, owned by Opinaca Mines/Goldcorp, is located in the James Bay region, 350 kilometres north of Matagami and east of the Opinaca reservoir. The plant will be designed to process 7,000 tonnes o ore per day.
