Hatch Mott MacDonald has acquired Engineering Northwest Ltd., an engineering firm based in Thunder Bay, Ontario. ENL is focused on highway, municipal, water and wastewater engineering, as well as project and construction management. It has 60 staff and began in 1995.

GENIVAR has acquired North 46 Architecture, a firm of 8 employees based in Charlottetown, P.E.I.

Golder Associates has opened new offices in St. John’s, Newfoundland, and Halifax, Nova Scotia. It already has an office in St. John’s, in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and in Labrador City.

SNC-Lavalin has acquired DBA Engineering, an Ontario firm specializing in materials and pavement engineering, and geotechnical and geo-environmental studies. Founded in 1991, DBA has approximately 100 employees n Toronto, Kingston, Cambridge and Trenton.

DIALOG has appointed Grant Kidd, P.Eng. as a principal of the company. Kidd is an expert in mechanical engineering for buildings and is based in Edmonton. Martin Nielsen, MAIBC, P.Eng., has recently joined DIALOG as a principal. He has 25 years as both a practising architect and mechanical engineer. He will be based in Vancouver.

Parsons Brinckerhoff has named Greg Kelly to the new position of global Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Kelly was previously president of the U.S. company’s American Transportation operating company.

Dr. Jamal Shamas has been appointed Industry Sector Lead for the Water, Oil and Gas Sector at CH2M HILL. Dr. Shamas joined the company in 2009 and soon after relocated to the United Arab Emirates to develop industrial clients in the Middle East and North Africa.
