New Brunswick kicks in $90 million to hospital renovations

This year, $2.5 million will be invested to begin the work on the conceptual design and construction documentation planning for the renovations and upgrades to the surgical unit, oncology and ICU.

The Province of New Brunswick has announced it will be investing an estimated $90 million in the Saint John Regional Hospital,  covering the redesign and redevelopment of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), surgical and oncology units.

“We know how important a strong health-care system is to New Brunswick families. New Brunswickers want their loved ones to get the best health care possible,” said Premier Brian Gallant in a release.

This year, $2.5 million will be invested to begin the work on the functional programming, conceptual design and construction documentation planning for the renovations and upgrades to the surgical unit, oncology and ICU.

The Horizon Health Network Board will partner with the provincial government for funding on the design and planning phase of this project. The redevelopment and renovations are expected to take place over the next five years.
