The Halsall group of companies based in Toronto has joined with the engineering giant Parsons Brinckerhoff.
The Halsall group includes Halsall Associates Limited, a consulting engineering firm that began in 1956 and is best known for structural engineering for buildings. Also in the Halsall group are Pivotal Projects Limited and Loop Initiatives.
The employee-owned firm has 350 employees and four offices in Ontario, as well as Vancouver, Calgary and Dubai.
Parsons Brinckerhoff has 14,000 employees around the world, and is a division of Balfour Beatty plc.
Halsall will continue to operate under its own name, but with “A Parsons Brinckerhoff Company” attached to it. A press release says the company will maintain its current executive leadership, project managers and staff.
Part of the reason for Halsall’s move is to broaden the firm’s base of work to cover more infrastructure projects. (The company is already designing a bridge in Calgary.)
Company chairman Peter Halsall said in the announcement: “The opportunity this creates is exciting and inspiring. Our clients can count on us for a broader range of solutions for their projects. Our employees increasingly will be able to apply their ideas, practices and innovations to infrastructure as well as buildings.”
Mr. Halsall also said: “As part of our overall plan to be leaders in contributing to community sustainability, we are joining a values-based professional services organization that has world class expertise in transportation and power and steady growth in water.”
He added: “We are joining PB to enhance our ability to generate great career opportunities as we expand our impact.”
