Canadian Consulting Engineer

About

Canadian Consulting Engineer is a magazine for professional engineers working as consultants in the construction field.  Published for over 50 years, it is the only engineering magazine in Canada that covers buildings and infrastructure as they relate to four engineering disciplines: structural, civil, mechanical and electrical.  Our coverage enables readers to learn and appreciate the whole effort that goes into a building or civil design.   We are also Canada’s most established engineering magazine that features buildings and projects from coast-to-coast.

The magazine features the most innovative and high profile engineering projects.  Depending on the theme, they will be large civil works, such as in transportation (highways, airports, bridges, etc.), water resources (treatment plants, distribution, flood management), hydroelectric power generation, or environmental remediations.

Building features include advanced green buildings, innovative structural systems, energy, lighting, water-plumbing, fire protection, and security systems.

The department articles help readers to improve their business practices, develop their own careers, or tell them about the latest cases in construction law.

We’re not afraid to cover controversial topics in news and longer feature articles. These might relate to engineering disasters (the Mount Polley Mine spill, the Elliot Lake Mall collapse), or they may be an exploration about whether engineers should be forced into programs of continuing education.

In short, we like to engage readers at every level and make them enjoy the time they spend reading the magazine.

The most popular issue is in the fall which features the Canadian Consulting Engineering Award winning projects. The awards were jointly founded by the magazine 50 years ago in association with the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies – Canada (ACEC-Canada).

We publish a weekly e-newsletter that provides readers with a quick round-up of important news from across Canada, providing a streamlined source of information relevant to the diverse and fascinating world of construction engineering.
